17 West is a premier American Bistro in New Bremen, Ohio. This unique dining experience features a full lunch and dinner menu, daily specials, a wide selection of cocktails and live entertainment. With an upscale, contemporary menu and a casual atmosphere, the restaurant offers options for business lunches, an evening out and everything in between.

 

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen and the kitchen staff.
  • Serve as the point of contact and acting supervisor in the kitchen when the Executive Chef is not available.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining all menus and recipes used in the restaurant and the catering operations, As well as, assisting with the preparation, presentation, and service of these menu items. 
  • Work with the General Manager and Executive Chef in setting the direction of the business in day to day operations as well as a plan to grow the business, drive sales and manage costs.  
  • Assist in hiring and developing all kitchen staff.

 

Physical Requirements

 

  • Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and holidays.
  • Have the ability to work in a high pressure busy environment at a consistent and steady pace for long periods of time. One will be subject to wet floors, temperature extremes, and loud noises.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Must be able to stand for long periods of time and move from area to area in the kitchen.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Culinary or Catering degree preferred.
  • Serve Safe Certified – Level 1 or 2 (preferred). 
  • Four to six years’ experience as a Sous Chef and/or line cook. 
  • Strong attention to detail, patient, and conscientious. The ability to follow established procedures and processes very closely. Have the ability to make decisions cautiously and to the standards of the restaurant.
  • Communication is factual, polite, and professional in nature. Demonstrate substantial working knowledge of cooking practices and methods.  Possess strong managerial skills.
