Job Responsibilities:


Provides consultation on complex projects related to the development of electrical based systems including electronics, component selection, and associated electrical systems for material handling equipment. This senior level position demonstrates expertise, creativity, foresight, and mature engineering judgement to anticipate and solve unprecedented engineering problems, to plan and accomplish program objectives and requirements, and to develop standards and guidance for diverse engineering activities.


  • Product Analysis and Specification – Conceptualize ideas for electrical systems.  Work with cross-functional colleagues in creating executable plan.
  • Product Design and Development – Perform design and development activities for electrical and electronics solutions for Crown’s new products. 
  • Product Testing and Support – Develop and execute product design verification using Crown’s extensive test facilities.  Work with manufacturing, quality, and sourcing teams with transition of product to production.    
  • Project Leadership – Create and monitor project plans.  Effectively communicate project status and project activities with the broader Crown team. 
  • Miscellaneous – Stay informed and help implement advances and pertinent changes in development tools, processes, and technologies.

Remote Work: Crown offers hybrid remote work for this position. A reasonable commute is necessary since some onsite work is required. Relocation assistance may be available.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years related electrical engineering experience (Salary will be commensurate with applicable experience)
  • Good writing, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday
  • Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%)


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Masters degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent
  • 16 years related electrical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated project leadership skills
  • Detailed electronics knowledge and skills including:
    • Experience with mobile equipment design, digital design (logic, microprocessors), analog circuit design and simulation, linear control systems, power electronics, motor control systems, wireless and electromagnetic compatibility, and design of printed circuit boards
    • Electronic design experience from automotive, off-road vehicles, industrial, medical, or aerospace industry
    • Safety and Reliability:  Safety of Machinery (to include Performance Level and Categories of Systems, ISO 13849-001 / Sistema or similar), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis, Functional Hazard Analysis, Risk Assessment and Management, Reliability Analysis
  • Simulation Tools: SPICE, High Speed Signal Integrity (such as Hyperlynx), Matlab / Simulink
  • PCBA Design: Mixed Signal Design (6+ layer High Speed Digital Board Design), IC Component selection and design with processors, I/O protocols (USB, I2C, CANbus, SPI, Motor Control, wireless), and power circuits
  • Hardware Design Tools: Schematic Capture (such as Cadence / Allegro), PCB Layout (such as PADS)
  • Hardware Equipment: Oscilloscope, Spectrum / Network Analyzers, Function Generators, Logic Analyzers
