Primary Responsibilities:

  • Review and process supplier related Non-Conformances for validity and initiates immediate containment actions based on the level of risk.
  • Lead and implement containment actions for major Non-Conformances ensuring impact to production is minimal.
  • Coordinate Supplier sorting activities onsite with involvement from Crown Purchasing and Manufacturing.
  • Work directly with the supplier on defect and non-conformance resolution through a formal supplier corrective action response.
  • Lead on reviewing corrective actions and collaborate with Commodity Supplier Quality Engineers on methods to verify corrective actions are effective towards preventing reoccurrences.
  • Work closely with the Manufacturing Quality, Purchasing, and Engineering departments to assist the Supplier with developing a permanent correction action plan, when required.
  • Ability to review or generate a robust PFMEA to prevent or eliminate the potential of non-conforming product being produced by the supplier.
  • Systematically escalate and properly communicates based on the urgency and severity of Non-Conformances.
  • Engage Commodity Supplier Quality Engineer to initiate development activities for suppliers that repeatedly impact production due to Non-Conformances of purchased components.
  • Ability to present supplier performance data for Management and Cross functional team review
  • Use statistical data tools when applicable to assist with problem solving and prevent reoccurrences of issues.

 

Other Responsibilities may include:

  • Supplier On-boarding – Assist with the supplier onboarding process using onsite audit tools and other applicable QMS tools.
  • When required, participate in Design Reviews with Advanced Quality Engineers, Advanced Manufacturing Engineers, and Sourcing Specialist to understand functional requirements of the purchased component and use that data to ensure supplier is capable of meeting requirements.
  • Assist with supplier teardowns and product return. 


Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or high school diploma with 6 years of job-related experience or 4 years of Crown job-related experience.
  • American Society of Quality (ASQ) or equivalent Certified Quality Engineer and/or Supplier Quality Professional certification with 4 years relevant experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organization skills along with the ability to work with teams.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills are required.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering prints and drawings, use of quality inspection tools and techniques, and working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Must be able to complete task in timely manner with minimal supervision.
  • Purchasing background is desirable.
  • Excellent computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail, and internet searches) are desirable.
  • Extensive travel (6-20%)
