Primary Responsibilities
- Responsible for installation, technical support and broad debug of PLC, HMI, safety, servo, robot, CNC and/or vision-based hardware and software; including, but not limited to: RSLogix 500/5000, FT View Studio, C-More HMI, SICK FlexiSoft Designer, AB Kinetix Servo System, Fanuc/Motoman robots and Cognex Insight Explorer.
- Solve daily problems that may arise due to manufacturing technologies applied in a variety of systems.
- Accurately identify root cause and countermeasures for manufacturing problems.
- Flex to properly manage, prioritize and align work to meet manufacturing or department needs.
- Provide sound technical knowledge and consultation in areas of manufacturing automation and system controls integration.
- Facilitate meetings with proper cross functional members, while ensuring documentation and follow-through of action items.
- Measure and accurately judge the readiness of new manufacturing systems as part of the development cycle.
- Analyze and quantify improvement opportunities resulting from implementation of manufacturing technologies.
- Provide input and support for development of requirements for integrated manufacturing systems.
- Support in establishing, documenting and evaluating run-off plans; defining control points; summarizing results.
- Ensure all documentation, configurations and software is maintained and organized as part of equipment readiness and commissioning.
- Create clear/concise presentations for communication of key decisions, activity and plans being considered.
- Complete situation analysis and decision analysis as part of selling manufacturing improvements.
- Clearly communicate any concerns related to manufacturing systems.
- Maintain and promote organized work areas and equipment at desk and lab.
- Facilitate proper review and training of manufacturing systems with other technicians, maintenance, operators and personnel.
- Continuously improve on performance results of manufacturing systems and document gaps or weaknesses as way to identify future opportunities.
- Responsible for the integration of the machines and the systems to minimize downtime.
- Help establish new standards and maintain existing standards while having experience with industry electrical codes, safety standards, ethernet protocols, etc.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or equivalent, with five (5) to ten (10) years in a manufacturing environment.
- Electric, pneumatic and hydraulic circuit design, and troubleshooting capabilities.
- Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures for manufacturing equipment and automation.
- Must demonstrate willingness to learn new technologies.
- Excellent leadership, coaching and communication skills to facilitate discussions with a wide variety of personnel.
- Demonstrated analytical and decision-making skills.
- Ability to support multiple projects at once.
- Travel – 10%
