Manufacturing Engineer (Weld)

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Propose improvements to department/plant operations through analysis of existing processes compared to future requirements based on capacity, cost reduction, safety and/or risk avoidance opportunities. Justify project proposals based on make-vs-buy analysis, layout, cost, and budgetary impacts. Implement processes through equipment procurement, coordination of installation, validation of process capability, training, process documentation, development of time standards, and production start-up support.
  • Review production problems as they are identified and implement solutions using a methodical problem-solving process.  Develop and implement process documentation.  Contribute to initiatives by other plant functions such as quality, safety, environment, production control, etc., to improve operations.
  • Contribute to the product introduction process.  Activities will vary depending on project size, structure and phase but may include: cost estimation, suggestion and evaluation for design for manufacturability, process investigation, schedule development, make-vs-buy analysis, prototype manufacture, etc.
  • Develop reports, project briefings and management presentations.  Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Associates or higher in Engineering or other related field (Preferred)
  • 5-6+ years Fabrication experience
  • 2-3+ years Project Management experience
  • Excellent communication skills to lead meetings and projects.
  • Must be able to lead cross-functional teams for safety, quality, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • SAP / Crown360 MRP system experience (Preferred)
  • NX, AutoCAD, Sketchup experience (Preferred)
  • CNC programming (Preferred)
  • Six Sigma Green Belt (Preferred)
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) (Preferred)
