Process Technician (Machining)

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Support daily shop floor operations, resolving production issues, quality problems, and implementing process improvements. Activities include: Participate in the review of rejected parts to determine disposition and further action.  Estimate and calculate standard times.  Structure and verify bills of materials. Update process documentation. Submit maintenance requisitions. Assist with machinery and equipment installation and repair. 
  • Perform analysis, data collection and documentation of manufacturing processes. Analyze, recommend, and implement layout and workflow improvements consistent with lean manufacturing methodologies. Assist with workstation and line layouts, balancing of work content, determination of labor requirements, material handling and storage solutions, process documentation, and operator training as needed.  Identification and coordination of new plugging designs and implementation of robotics in paint.
  • Work with Manufacturing and Product Engineering to define work methods and work sequences in the development of new products and processes. Participate in design reviews and engineering changes, including new fixture design concepts.
  • Cross-train in other manufacturing processes as needed.



  • Associates degree or 3-5 years related experience preferred. 
  • Additional skills and training may be required such as CAD layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (G,D&T), Lean Manufacturing principles, PLC programming, robotics, electrical and electronic troubleshooting, pre-treatment process and analysis, process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC). 
  • Experience using Six Sigma Tools for root cause identification and problem solving.
  • Exhibit good communication and interpersonal skills amongst shop floor and support staff.
  • Must be able to execute small projects and lead small teams within process scope.
  • Must have excellent hands-on expertise in assigned manufacturing process.
