Job Duties

  • Responsible for the analysis of product, process, equipment and method issues at designated stages of product development and manufacturing the objective is to maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring best possible manufacturability
  • The support of supplier product conformance to specified requirements through supplier verification efforts.  This objective is achieved through supplier auditing, supporting Corporate SQE, or individual assignment, promoting and implementing quality concepts and transferring Company’s receiving inspection of product specified requirements into the supplier’s responsibility.  
  • Participate in development activities to proactively improve product, processes and prevent NCP (Nonconforming Product).
  • Provide process efficiency and suitability analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management and supply base.
  • Provide method design, impact analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management.  
  • Assist in the implementation of the ISO 9000 system. Provide ongoing product, process, equipment and method creation/revision input to owners of quality management system element for inclusion in system documentation
  • Provide equipment capability analysis and qualification input to manufacturing engineering and production management.  
  • Provide periodic input to the Unit Quality Manager or the Quality (Quality Engineering) Manager of the ongoing incremental improvement of the Quality Engineer I function, applications and job description.  
     

Minimum Qualifications

  • This position requires a four-year college degree or two-year college degree with 3 years’ experience and or American Society of Quality (ASQ) (or equivalent) Certified Quality Engineer certification.  
  • Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • This position requires an individual with strong communication skills and ability to participate with teams.  Computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word) and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel) is needed for this position. 
  • Good communication skills, the ability to work effectively with people and the personal drive/sense of urgency necessary to provide needed support in the time frames demanded is required.  This position requires an individual with the flexibility and freedom to travel (Up to 25% travel.)
  • Per 8-hour shift.  Sit 8 hours and stand 0 hours.  Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations).  Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work.  Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard.  Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs.  Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certain technical skills and training, such as; quality tools and techniques, ability to read and understand engineering drawings, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), problem solving skills (8D), process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) are desired.
