Shot Blast Grind GRN - 2nd Shift

SUMMARY

Grind down and polish all excess welds and edges and blast off impurities to prepare parts for painting. Operational 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shift with possible overtime available.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING 

High school diploma or equivalent is required. No related work experience required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Set-up, adjust and operate various types of grinders, and deburring tools to grind buff, polish and deburr parts to print specifications.
• Set-up, adjust and operate shot blaster to blast parts to print specifications.
• Follow routings, work instructions and control plans to ensure parts are produced to print and delivered to proper paint line.
• Move material and parts with lift truck, walk-along, and hoists.
• Hang parts on heavy paint line with proper hooks and chains.
• Inspect parts to print specifications.
• Perform daily lift truck & hoist pre-operational safety checks.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
• Train other operators as required.
• Perform other duties as required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stay stationary/traverse per 8 hr. shift. Frequently bend, push/pull, reach above shoulder level, and balance. Frequently lift and carrying up to 40 lbs., and continuously lift and carry up to 10 lbs. Must be able to hear, see, have good binocular vision, do simple but firm grasping with both hands. Must be able to work in a noisy environment that includes exposure to vibration, weld flash, dust, grease, oil, and solvents. Must be able to safely operate lift trucks and safely work in areas of lift truck traffic.

MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Read and understand weld and grind symbols, blueprints, basic math (including fractions and decimals). Must be able to remember, reason, and analyze. May require a valid driver’s license.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT

Must be able to operate grinders, hand sanders, belt grinders, lift trucks, and hoist bridge cranes. Must wear face shields, ear plugs, safety shoes, safety glasses, grinding aprons and other personal protective equipment as required.
