Position Title:                              Quality Engineer II

 

Position Location:                      2000 Dobbs Farm Road, Kinston, NC 28504

                                                                                   

Hours:                                         Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

 

Summary of Duties: Responsible for the analysis of product, process, equipment and method issues at designated stages of product development and manufacturing. Lead and support action to prevent and reduce all costs associated with poor quality. Work to maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring best possible manufacturability. Apply quality engineering and six sigma methods and tools to maintain and improve process and product quality. Provide process efficiency and suitability analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Use the warranty and NCP system for review and management of defective product. Support production process creation efforts in areas requiring quality control applications. Support the use of statistics for product improvement and process control. Drive corrective actions on major quality issues, providing data and Pareto analysis of problem parts and processes. Provide Plant Performance Measures for the quality function and participate and champion improvement teams to drive continuous improvement. Provide product reliability, design, and critical feature analysis and input to product teams. Create and maintain the quality plan and product performance measures for the Product Team. Provide method design and impact analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Support creation and revision efforts in areas with significant impact on product, process or equipment. Provide ongoing product, process, equipment and method creation and revision input to owners of quality management system element for inclusion in system documentation. Support the completeness and suitability of the QMS system in achieving company objectives. Provide equipment capability analysis and qualification input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Provide input on equipment specification and purchases. Support company efforts to develop appropriate equipment use and limitations.

 

Education requirements:  Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Systems Engineering or related field of study.

 

Experience requirements: 5 years of experience as Plant Quality Leader, Quality Engineer or related occupation.

 

Special Skills or Other Requirements: Five (5) years of experience with the following: Six Sigma Green Belt certification including Gage R&R, Design of Experiment; Root Cause analysis including 8D, Pareto analysis, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, and PDCA; Lean training; 5S, Standard Work, and Waste Reduction; and Quality tools and techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing including GD&T, process capability including Cp and CpK and statistical process control. One (1) year of experience with the following: SAP systems.

 

Travel requirements: 25% travel to client sites nationwide.
