Senior Mfg Engineer - MTC Lead

Primary Responsibility: 

•           Supervise the overall operations of the Manufacturing Technology Center (MTC) in order to meet the cost, quality, and timely delivery of projects. MTC includes tool design, tool build, and automation/controls.  

•           Develop, maintain, and administer an organization qualified to produce and maintain production tooling in a safe and efficient working environment. 

•           Provide leadership, direction, coaching and training for departmental supervisors and support staff.  

•           Communicate direction in an organized and thorough manner.  

•           Assist support staff in goal setting and reaching performance expectations.  

•           Provide guidance and training required to develop in order to meet Company expectations.  

•           Conduct goal planning and review sessions with all direct reports and review results with supervisor. 

•           Directly manage day to day activities required to meet build schedules, plan, and provide for an adequate supply of and ensure control over materials and supplies, plan and provide for tools and equipment required to build high quality tooling.  

•           Direct the application of computer technology required to produce tooling. Set direction on new and current tool build technologies.  

•           Create an environment of creativity that advances the company to be a leader in manufacturing and provide leadership throughout the organization.  

•           Working with the global MTC's and AME's, accelerate product development and create manufacturing solutions that transform global processes.    

•           Utilize the design review process to recommend improvements to tool designs and manufacturing processes. 

•           Enforce all general safe-working procedures as prescribed per Company policy.  Promote safe working practices and policies.  

•           Be diligent in identifying and correcting any unsafe practices throughout the manufacturing facilities. 

•           Develop annual budget for expense accounts and capital equipment related to the operations of tool building. 

•           Work with management to develop policy and programs in support of good employee relations. 

•           Perform other duties assigned by upper management. 


Four-year Engineering degree and 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, or a two-year degree with 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.  

Must have valid driving privileges 

Occasional travel (5-10%) 

Occasional overnight stays (5-10%) 


Prior experience in fixture design, tool design, rapid prototyping, welding, fabrication, and programming/operating CNC equipment.  Experience in CAD, CAM, and ERP systems. Experience in automation engineering and understanding of electrical controls is a plus. Possess the ability to be self-motivated. Good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a commonsense approach are also desired. Ability to think creatively and move the organization forward in new technologies and manufacturing methods.
