Job Duties

  • Special Projects - Assist in financial and business-related projects and cooperate with other departments in the preparation of analyses by gathering financial data or reconciling to the general ledger. Identify opportunities for process improvements within and outside of accounting, implement process optimization activities, and ensure coordination across the accounting department and Company. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Departmental Supervision - Prioritize work and guide employees on solving routine departmental problems and issues. Oversee day-to-day operations of the department. Provide backup support for the department.  Ensure that employees are properly trained (not only for their own responsibilities but for backup support as well) and seek out ways to advance their skills and capabilities. Evaluate and anticipate work volume and assign/distribute work accordingly.
  • Financial Reporting Preparation - Compile data and prepare various financial statements monthly, including new reports requested from management.  Prepare the monthly reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, post general ledger entries, and assist management with problems and ledger questions. Create and prepare supporting documentation upon request.
  • Audit Preparation - Provide schedules and information for selections that support transactions recorded in the financial statements to independent auditors. Also provide schedules and information for the preparation of income and sales tax returns.
  • Budget Preparation - Assist managers, directors, or other departments within the Company in the coordination of applicable departmental budgets. Answer questions relative to budget variances throughout the year.
  • Employee Development - Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.

 Minimum Qualifications

  • 5-7 years of related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance)
    • Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Occasional travel (0-5%)
  • Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday
  • Per 8-hour shift.  Sit 8 hours and stand 0 hours.  Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations).  Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work.  Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard.  Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs.  Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).

Preferred Qualification

  • Supervisory experience is desirable. Communication and computer skills are necessary.  Experience developing and implementing process improvements.  Experience supporting the implementation of new financial systems.
