Job Responsibilities:

 

The Application Development Supervisor is a critical role within the Insite agile based cloud development team chartered to develop and deploy new global fleet and service management products.  The Application Development Supervisor reports directly to a Director or Manager and supervises an applications development team.

 

  • Project Leadership - Provide positive leadership in the form of vision and direction to the staff.  Manage the development group that is building, configuring, maintaining, and enhancing Insite applications throughout the application life cycle.  Develop and enhance methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.  From the perspective of a System Architect and with additional emphasis upon applications development, actively participate with department management to develop an overall Insite program strategy.  As part of the management team, work closely and collaboratively with Design, Engineering, IT, Service, and Sales to understand their perspective and be accommodating to their business needs.
  • Staff Development - Manage applications group personnel by conducting Talent Development Discussions and developing their skills and capabilities to meet the needs of the organization, as well as building on existing recruiting capabilities to address new needs and skills gaps.
  • Staff Management - Interview, hire, and manage staff members under your supervision. Participate in the budgeting process for funding of applications, tools, and services necessary to accomplish departmental goals.  Prioritize, assign, and monitor work assignments to staff members.  Oversee the design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation activities of assigned staff.  Monitor team performance against goals and project tasks; take proactive action when obstacles or risks are encountered.
  • Governance and Compliance - Ensure the organization's applications are effectively secured and that risks are identified and mitigated.  Ensure the developed applications function in compliance with the company’s Data Privacy guidelines.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor degree, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • 5-7 years related experience in cloud based application development
  • Good written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to nontechnical people to enhance understanding and drive to decisions that lead to positive outcomes
  • Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
