Applications Engineer - Automation & Emerging Technologies

  • Identify and develop automated guided vehicle (AGV) navigation type and technology proficiencies; not limited to, strengths, limitations, accuracies, proper uses, etc. through personal experience and research.
  • Document common supply chain use cases related to AGV system design and interfaces.
  • Utilize various analytic tools to simulate, evolve and optimize AGV system designs.
  • Analyze customer’s processes, understand objectives, and record system requirements.
  • Define, design and document system type and/or components of Company  engineered AGV systems that will achieve customer’s functional, process, and financial objectives.
  • Communicate and document system design details to successfully align with internal stakeholders.
  • Lead customer on-site assessments for the purpose of documenting process and system details.
  • Utilize existing analysis tools and create new tools including the following design and analysis tools: examples include: AutoCAD, simulation tools, other (e.g. spreadsheets).
  • Work with existing sales channel to prepare sales proposals.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions with customer end users to ensure the customer has product and system knowledge to successfully operate the system.




  • 5-7 years' related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering)
  • Extensive travel (over 20%)
  • Extensive overnight stays (over 20%)
  • Job requires employee to drive a lift truck
  • Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business > 20% per week (more than 8 hours) and an MVR is required
  • Job may require employee to drive a company vehicle; job is non-DOT regulated and an MVR is required
  • Possess drafting and other technical application skills; specifically, AutoCAD, MS Office, other analytical applications
  • Excellent statistical and financial analytics skills


Preferred Qualifications


  • Eight plus years of automation system design, supply chain system design, or technical consulting experience is strongly recommended.
  • Advanced degrees are preferred; however, not required.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communications: writing, presentation, interviewing and all forms of customer interaction.
  • Direct experiences in business consulting, process development and technical product development is a plus.
  • Autodesk AutoCAD, simulation software, statistical tools and continuous improvement tools; such as, lean concepts, six sigma, etc. Supply Chain professional, a plus, such as: CSCP, CPIM, CLTD, ASCM
