Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Property Tax Compliance - Prepare and timely file accurate personal property tax returns to proper taxing authorities for each state, city and/or county according to individual jurisdiction requirements. Prepare workpapers to support property tax reporting. Verify assessments received from taxing jurisdictions agree to returns filed. Approve property tax bills, request/process payments, correspond with tax assessors/collectors regarding property values, assessments and bills; if applicable to assigned returns, assure that property taxes are invoiced to Crown Credit Company customers, in accordance with their lease agreements, and provide backup to customers for invoices as required. Assist with the conversion of “book” financial information and raw data to “tax” relevant/ready information; including gathering data, preparing import files, preparing studies to support tax positions, etc.  Provide property tax audit support by creating workpapers and gathering requested data. Lead Property Tax Made Simple (PTMS) software support and systems testing.
  • Income Tax Assistance - Assist with the preparation of Federal, State and/or Local income tax workpapers and tax returns. Aid in the computation, filing and payment of quarterly income tax estimates and annual extensions.  Request/process payments, manually or electronically file income tax returns, and maintain due date tracking. Provide project support as needed in the conversion of “book” financial information and raw data to “tax” relevant/ready information, including gathering data, preparing electronic workpapers, preparing studies to support tax positions, etc.
  • Sales Tax Assistance - Assist sales tax group with the Exemption Certificate Process; including the issuance and management of exemption certificates provided to manufacturing suppliers, the basic review and collaborative correction of exemption certificates received from suppliers, and the updating of the Exemption Certificate Database as directed by Sales and Use Tax Administrators. Prepare assigned sales/use tax returns and associated workpaper, request/process payment, and manually or electronically file tax returns. Assist with basic sales and use tax research and analysis.
  • License Renewals and Registrations / Processing, Filing and Miscellaneous Projects - Assist with preparation of annual state and local license renewals and request/process associated payments. Prepare required paperwork to register in new jurisdictions as requested. Assist with any required correspondence to and from each jurisdiction. Print, copy, request checks and complete certified mailing receipts.  Assist with any filing requirements of the department including file set-up, certified/mail receipts, workpapers, returns, archives, etc. Assist management with other tax related projects. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Less than 2 years related experience
  • Associate degree (Accounting)
  • Occasional travel & Overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and data base software to perform computation and data mining and manipulation. 
  • Analytical and organizational skills are required along with the ability to handle multiple projects and tasks at the same time. 
  • Good attention to detail and interpersonal skills both written and verbal are necessary.  Ability to work in team setting.
