Job Responsibilities:


The DevOps Engineering Manager is a critical role within the agile based cloud product development team chartered to develop and deploy global fleet and service management products including Crown’s award-winning InfoLink. Provide overall leadership and management of the DevOps Team. While working closely with key stakeholders, this role’s responsibilities include architecting, building, securing, releasing, deploying and the configuration of the organization’s Insite cloud environment. This position is a member of a software product development team and is responsible for operational monitoring and support of the cloud environments and other related systems. This position reports to the Director of Insite Software Product Development. Supervise and mentor team members and define priorities in alignment with the Delivery and Development Teams. Reporting to this position will be DevOps and Support Engineers.


  • Infrastructure and Platform Management - Implement and support systems that are highly available, scalable, secure, and self-healing on a cloud platform, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS). Design, manage, and maintain tools to automate environmental processes for the production, test, and development environments. Provide operational support activities for the globally deployed platform.
  • Software Configuration and Release Management - Develop automated continuous delivery scripts for the implementation of new software modules, upgrades, and fixes to a cloud production environment. Ensure modules are production ready and then makes modules production-available by moving them to libraries, completing forms, and completing version control documents.
  • Security - Understand, implement, and automate security controls, governance processes, and compliance validation. Monitor for ongoing compliance.
  • Employee Development and Technical Mentoring - Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Coaching, motivate, mentor, and develop direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities. Act as a subject matter expert on DevOps practices and provide some oversite of other team members. Supervise and prioritize daily task of DevOps team.
  • Project Management - Perform activity and resource planning, control time management, analyze and monitor project risk, and Managing reports and necessary documentation. Perform other duties as assigned.

Location: This position is based in our New Bremen, Ohio global headquarters with possible option to work occasionally from the Troy, Ohio office.  These locations are reasonably close to Dayton, Columbus, Cincinnati, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Toledo, and Cleveland.


Remote Work: Crown offers hybrid remote work for this position. A reasonable commute is necessary since some onsite work is required.  Relocation assistance available.

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or related field (or compensating experience)
  • 8 or more years of experience in DevOps process environment or Unix System Administration, or equivalent experience (Salary will be commensurate with experience)
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker and experience with GitHub
  • Working understanding of application lifecycle management
  • Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service in a global environment
  • Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
  • Good organizational, analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%)


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Training and certification as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer and/or other related certifications highly desirable
  • Experience with coaching others and project management.
