Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Medical Care and Health Services Administration - Direct, create, document, and implement medical policies and procedures for the Company’s medical clinic.  Ensure special programs such as Drug and Alcohol Screening, Immunizations, Case Management, Injury/Illness Management, Executive Physicals, and International Travel Medical Clearances are fully operational. Monitor medical aspects of the Hearing Conservation Program, Respiratory Protection Program, and the Company’s sponsored Physical Therapy Program.  Provide or arrange for Medical Review Officer (MRO) Services and Occupational Health Clinic Services throughout the Company.  Coordinate and validate Bloodborne Pathogen Training, First Aid/CPR/AED Training, and other training programs to comply with federal regulations and company policies.  Act as a resource to supervisors, managers, and senior management on all worker-related medical issues.  Perform periodic medical reviews at remote Company locations. Conduct discussions with health care professionals regarding occupational medical services provided to employees at remote Company locations.  Oversee the Medical Department budget.  Visit industrial plants and branches to observe occupational tasks. Supervise mid-level provider(s), nurses, and administrative staff.
  • Safety Programs - Work with Safety and/or Environmental Managers to control chemicals in the workplace.  Identify opportunities for safety and ergonomic improvements.  Monitor key safety measurements and work closely with Safety Managers to maintain a safe work culture.  
  • Wellness Programs - Medically assist the Total Rewards department in developing and maintaining a comprehensive health and wellness program (HealthWise) that aligns with the Company’s benefits and values.  Act as Company champion to promote wellness at all levels.
  • Clinical Care Management - Provide and manage an emergency medical care system for all employees and visitors. Provide and/or arrange for the treatment of occupational injuries and illnesses. Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) examinations and review DOT work of other clinicians.  Complete medical surveillance examinations to comply with all Federal and State regulations and company policies. Provide return to work (RTW) evaluations, disability evaluations, and job site visits. Assess & evaluate employees thought to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. Provide care for senior leaders and related executives as directed.
  • Employee Development - Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting development discussions, evaluate performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. Responsible for coaching, motivating, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • 5 years related experience in Occupational Medicine or Board Certification in Occupational Medicine is required with 3 years of working experience.
  • Doctorate degree (M.D or D.O from an American Medical Association approved medical school)
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Ohio
  • Completion of an AMA approved residency program
  • Board certified or board eligible in the field of Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, Insurance Medicine, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Family Practice or Emergency Medicine
  • Medical Review Officer Certification.
  • Certification to perform Federal DOT examinations 
  • Occasional travel (0-5%) & overnight stays (0-5%)

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Strong familiarity with safety & occupational health regulations.
  • Also preferred,  American Board of Independent Medical Examiners certification or International Academy of Independent Medical Examiners certification.
