IT Helpdesk Manager

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Create project plans by defining goals, planning resources, monitoring progress, communicating status, and escalating problems when necessary.
  • Review incoming requests for assistance to ensure appropriateness. 
  • Review work requests to ensure they are being handled in a timely and high-quality manner. 
  • Review reports on call volumes, work queue status, and hardware and software inventories.
  • Plan, assign and direct work as well as coach, motivate, mentor, and develope direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.  Perform duties such as conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals and completing annual wage reviews. 
  • Develop, integrate, and maintain operational procedures.
  • Implement a process for ensuring high qualities standards which include random inspections, fault analysis, and remedial staff training (when needed). 
  • Communicate with other department managers to determine if the Helpdesk is exceeding the company’s needs.
  • Oversee formal and informal departmental and computer training for the end users. 
  • Oversee end user training and publishing of periodic user tips. 
  • Communicate the Helpdesk’s status on all issues and projects.

 

Qualifications

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience, along with 5-7 years’ related experience. 
  • Management experience in Helpdesk environments is preferred. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, are highly desirable. 
  • Project management skills are also desirable.
