Job Duties
- Workers’ Compensation Administration - Establish claim records in workers’ compensation system. Investigate assigned occupational injury/illness cases and make determinations on certification/denial of claims. Collaborate with peers and legal counsel to ensure consistency and accuracy of claims management. Evaluate employees' medical conditions and request medical examinations when appropriate. Evaluate, calculate, and pay assigned employee claims for lost time and medical care reimbursement per guidelines established by the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation. Coordinate medical claim payment with 3rd party vendor. Request, prepare for and attend workers' compensation hearings as required. Prepare and send forms and reports to the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation. Prepare expense information for selected Ohio branches. Establish reserve liabilities for all claims. Prepare reserve reports for Accounting and Re-insurance carrier. Submit timely reimbursements from Re-insurance carrier when applicable. Keep up-to-date on Ohio BWC laws and regulations, and answer Workers’ Compensation questions.
- Disability Benefits Administration - Contact and retrieve current medical logs from branches on a weekly basis and review for accuracy. Input information on all employees on disability (i.e. all short term, long term, and branch workers compensation leaves) into HRIS system. Upon receipt of disability claim form from employees, check claim form for accuracy and completeness. Calculate appropriate benefit amount and initiate payment with payroll. Monitor employees while on leave to make sure appropriate documentation has been received. Follow-up on all claim overpayments. Prepare Long Term Disability documentation for employees enrolled in Long Term Disability coverage. Complete paperwork for state-mandated and personal disability benefits. Answer disability benefit questions.
- Family Medical Leave Administration (FMLA) - Coordinate Family Medical Leave Programs and support/develop policies and guidelines consistent with FMLA and other employment legislation including state-specific leave programs. Monitor changes in the law and communicate to Human Resources as appropriate. Develop and maintain compliant administration and tracking mechanisms within the HRIS system(s).Ensure FMLA forms are kept up-to-date and compliant. Complete and send applicable documentation to employees when FMLA has been requested. Approve/Deny leave as documentation allows and track usage to comply with the federal FMLA guidelines. Ensure HRIS system is kept current and follow retention guidelines.
- Military Leave Administration - Administer the Military Leave program which includes entering information into the HRIS system and Mapper, approve reimbursements, complete military return forms, process one year off tasks, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
- 0-2 years' related experience
- Associate degree (business administration)
Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED - Must have valid driving privileges
Preferred Qualifications
- A two-year degree in Business Administration.
- Three to five years prior administrative and workers’ compensation experience and a thorough understanding of FMLA administration are preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills are required for this position.
- Must be proficient in Word and Excel.
- PeopleSoft, SAP and Origami experience a plus.
