Manufacturing Engineer I

Responsibilities:

  • This position is responsible for arranging the outsourcing of fixture tools, automation projects, and components.
  • Monitor budgeted spending to ensure department stays within the means of allocated amount.
  • Prepare documentation to receive an RFQ from Crown approved vendors.
  • Verify quote is a cost-effective option.
  • Assist vendors with questions related to component or fixture builds.
  • Maintain and monitor vendor timelines.
  • Validate supplier items to ensure they meet print specifications and RFQ.
  • Explore opportunities for partnerships with surrounding and local companies.
  • Work with Crown purchasing department to obtain NDA’s and Crown Approved Vendor documentation.
  • Validate receipt of purchased components and raw materials for fixtures/projects in preparation for build operation.
  • Work directly with MTC Inventory Control Specialist to have purchase orders prepared.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on suppliers such as primary contact, phone/fax numbers, NDA’s, etc.
  • Coordinate supplier meetings both at the company and the supplier.
  • Attend seminars and tour supplier facilities as necessary.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • This position reports to the MTC Manager.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 8-15 years related experience (5+ years of toolmaking experience)
  • Familiarity with additional processes (e.g., heat treat, coatings, etc.)
  • Proficient in the use of CAD to review and export files to vendors.
  • Experience in raw material selection, machining, and assembly of mechanical builds.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Must have valid driving privileges.
  • Occasional travel (0-5%)
  • Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Motivated self-starter and team player who works with others and interacts effectively and efficiently with internal or external individuals and groups.
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook) and general computer literacy.

 

*This position offers the option of a 4/10 (Monday – Thursday or Tuesday- Friday) or 5/8 ( Monday- Friday) schedule.
