Manufacturing Engineer II- Machining

  • Propose improvements to department/plant operations through manufacturing engineering analysis of existing operations compared to future requirements based on capacity, cost reduction, safety and/or risk avoidance opportunities.
  • Preparations of project justification including recommendations, make-vs-buy analysis, layout, cost impact and schedule activities as required. 
  • Implementation of processes including equipment procurement, coordination of installation, process capability prove-out, training, process documentation, work standard measurement and production start-up.
  • Support the multi-tasking and mill turn machining areas, using root cause analysis to identify and eliminate production problems.
  • Support NPI programs with Design Reviews, Cost Estimates, Prototype production, Process Development and Production Launch as required
  • Review engineering prints, select appropriate tooling, create programs for CNC machine tools, while achieving quality and cost targets
  • Create and maintain CNC programs, set up sheets and tool lists
  • Work with tooling suppliers to review existing operations to improve quality and cost profiles
  • Implementation and Project Management of new processes, including equipment procurement, installation, process capability prove-out, training, process documentation and production start up
  • This position may report to a Senior Level Engineer, Manufacturing Engineering Manager, or other Departmental Manager.
  • Develop reports, project briefings and management presentations. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.




  • 16+ years related experience
  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Must have valid driving privileges
  • Occasional travel (0-5%)
  • Occasional overnight stays (0-5%)



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Four-year technical degree with minimum of two years relevant experience, two-year degree with five years relevant experience.
  • Certain technical skills and training such as CNC programming, CAD layout, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) may be required. 
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to lead the discussion, meeting, project, etc., and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to lead cross-functional teams and manage small to medium projects.
  • Requires good organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to support and mentor Process Technicians, Supervisors and others.
