Summary:

Provide global product leadership for an assigned group of products. Create, capture, and share product and market knowledge, manage the portfolio strategy, communicate value, and get products or solutions in the hands of Company customers. Be the product and market expert for Company products, solutions, and competitor knowledge. Understand Company’s corporate and customer goals and how Company products and solutions provide value to support those goals. Participate in product development and current product support process and work with assigned teams.

 

Responsibilities

 

Product and Market Knowledge

Be the point of contact for product and market knowledge for the sales team and other cross-functional departments. Maintain a deep understanding of the products and solutions, associated technologies, and applications where products and solutions are used. Define competitive environment and align with product specialists and influencers in the field.  Visit customers, ride along with sales team and meet with management to uncover current issues that prospects, customers, and sales team, face in their every-day business environment. Understand special product requests, recognize gaps in product features and options, and recommend product solutions. Provide feedback and develop reports for Senior Management.

 

Portfolio Strategy

Develop global product roadmaps that support corporate goals and plot the future vision of products and solutions in the assigned portfolio. Align and document product needs based on global peer inputs. Perform data analytics and record customer feedback to understand market demand and interest of Company products. Plot the assigned portfolio in relation to product life cycle, value, and performance. Create competitive whitespace, understand alternative solutions, and develop a list of prioritized needs that influence product design and positioning.  Utilize the Product Management roadmap process and other tools to formalize and communicate findings.

 

Commercialization Support

Create product positioning that communicates Company product core benefits in the market. Document customer problems and how Company products and solutions solve those problems. Understand and record core functional benefits and value of the assigned portfolio. Update "Product" section of the marketing plan accordingly. Lead product specification and pricing process. Assist in driving efforts to get Company product and solutions in the hands of our customers by offering supply chain and delivery recommendations. Support the training and product marketing team during the product and feature launch process.

 

Apply Business and Financial Acumen

Prepare marketing plans, business cases and budget requirements to drive fiscal activity.  Monitor sales and marketing reports including daily bookings and lost orders for assigned product(s).  Understand market level pricing and identify product costs to build sound pricing strategies that attain corporate goals. Recognize and select a course of action based on trends and findings, set in motion an implementation plan. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

  • 2-4 years related experience
  • Bachelor degree (Business or Engineering)  Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
  • Must have valid driving privileges
  • Extensive travel & overnight stays (20%)

 

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated product and application knowledge along with proven communication and analytical skills.
