Program Manager - Product Development

Job Responsibilities:

 

Coordinate activities related to new product introduction, systems issues, engineering changes, and inventory management to assist with product development programs and initiatives. Plan and conduct work requiring project planning, execution, and reporting while adhering to the Product Development Process (PDP). This position reports to the Sr. Manager of Program Management.

 

  • Project Management – Assist with or lead the Product Development Process (PDP) for product development projects assigned by the Product Development Management Team. Manage and monitor project progress to goals, resolve issues as appropriate, adjust plans where needed, and ensure a coordinated introduction of a quality product to production and customer. Perform post-project audit and report.  Secure part procurement orders, purchase requisitions, and prototype parts in supporting engineering projects. Maintain and track Design Verification/Manufacturing Check Sample (DV/MCS) spreadsheets and monitor the closing of project related shop orders. Coordinate and prepare presentation materials and scheduling meetings. Confer with others to assess progress and discuss needed changes.  
  • Product and Cross-Functional Support - Develop and promote consistent project materials management practices. Coordinate the shipping and receiving of international and domestic shipments. Based on project coordination expertise and relationships with the various operations, may be assigned to manage and lead the Product Development Process (PDP) for a simple or straightforward product development or introduction projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Communication - Act as a resource for distributing and collecting information for project support. Provide projects with necessary systems support, documentation, data entry, and assistance with project issues. Support and provide combined project reporting to the Program Management department Organize and facilitate key project meetings. 
  • Project Management Skill Development - Continue to refine your own skills and knowledge.  Collaborate on tasks with Program Managers as appropriate.  Continue to learn and be mentored under other Program Managers or leaders in product development. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Good computer, written, verbal, organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills
  • Experience with enterprise resource planning software such as SAP and project management software
  • Aptitude for good project management and people management
  • Ability to grow relationships and create a cohesive bond across business units
  • Valid driving privileges
  • Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%)
  • Ability to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Degree in Project Management, Business, Engineering or related field
  • 2 years of experience in materials control management, production planning, project management, or product development environment
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • Knowledge of Company department interdependencies
