Job Duties:
- Oversight and Purchase Planning for Critical Parts - Supervise daily activity of placing purchase orders with suppliers to support production and service requirements while complying with Purchasing International Standard Organization (ISO) procedures. Identify purchase priorities for the team. Analyze actual demand, trends, and forecasts, and adjust inventory plans and team workloads accordingly. Use analysis results to identify forecast and demand plan issues. Validate forecasts and other relevant information required by suppliers to support company requirements. Create strategic initiatives to adjust planning parameters. Investigate causes of slow-moving inventory and implement preventative action to minimize obsolescence risk.
- Supervision/ Employee Development - Supervise day to day activities of staff. Evaluate and anticipate work volume and distribute work accordingly. Promote lean principles through the implementation of Standard Work practices and where necessary, lean culture by coaching/sponsoring Six Sigma continuous improvement projects. Ensure that employees are properly trained and seek out ways to advance their skills and capabilities. Perform duties such as creating/revising job descriptions, conducting Talent Development discussion sessions, rating performance, establishing/tracking goals. Responsible for coaching, motivating, mentoring, and developing direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.
- Purchased Materials Project Lead - Work closely with Master Scheduling team on Phase In/Phase Out project activity. Analyze parts impacted and distribute to Purchased Materials team for review. Work with Buyer Planners to ensure expectations of review are clearly defined. Minimize risk of future scrap by validating planning parameters of parts impacted. Communicate to project team feedback of implementing new projects & timing. Ensure team goals are met.
- Obsolete Parts Evaluation - Lead obsolescence reviews for Purchased Materials Team. Approve and/or deny “scrap” request from Buyer/Planners. Follow-up with Buyer Planners and disposition recommendations on slow moving and dead inventory. Follow company budget for obsolescence limits while complying with Purchasing International Standard Organization (ISO) procedures.
Job Qualifications:
- 5-7 years of related experience
- Associates degree (Supply Chain or Business)
- Non-degree considered if 6+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain or Business.
- A firm understanding of Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), with Baan and/or SAP experience.
- Good computer experience, including excellent spreadsheet skills.
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- APICS Certification, along with eight to ten years of extensive planning or related experience plus departmental management/supervision experience.
