Quality Engineer - Electronic Assembly

  • Provide support to ensure the process/product is designed, procured and manufactured in accordance with customer and Company quality requirements. 
  • Participate in product development and introduction activities, production testing and failure analysis evaluation and general quality systems support. 
  • Assist in the coordination of quality management system activities to ensure implementation and maintenance of the system provides suitable and effective results. 
  • Work closely with production control, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, purchasing, safety and environmental and manufacturing management to develop and implement solutions consistent with the goals of the Company. 
  • Provide input on process/product improvements through analysis of processes, cost reduction, safety and/or risk avoidance opportunities.
  • Develop key measurements, data collection systems, quality standards, assist with process capability studies and evaluate process and quality system documentation. 
  • Review quality trends and plan overall defect reduction programs associated with assigned product or project.  Ongoing support of activities resulting from process improvement, part changes, changing capabilities, etc.
  • Contribute to ensuring quality requirement compliance during product development and introduction process. 
  • Activities will vary depending on project size, structure and phase but may include evaluation of design review and design for manufacturability, key measurement evaluation, schedule development, supplier quality evaluation, prototype manufacturing process activities, test procedures, inspection analyses, etc.    
  • Provide input in reviewing production problems as they are identified and implement solutions.  Assist with resolution of advanced failure analysis issues. 
  • Participate in supplier audit activities and provide assistance with supplier issues, as required.  Participate in nonconforming product reviews and contribute to corrective/preventive action activities. 
  • Support development, implementation and updating quality department documentation. 
  • Provide leadership, assistance and training, such as quality tools and techniques with the failure analysis personnel, quality engineers and quality assurance technicians, as required.
  • Develop reports, project briefings and management presentations.  Perform other duties as assigned.



  • This position requires an individual with the flexibility to commute to, and work at various Company locations (New Bremen and Minster).
  • This position requires a four-year degree in engineering and five years’ experience, or a two-year technical degree and ten years’ experience. 
  • Ability to analyze surface mount technology circuits to component level is required. 
  • ASQ Quality Engineer certification or equivalent is desired.
  • Excellent computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word), and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel) are needed for this position. 
  • Knowledge of databases (MS Access) is desirable.  Certain technical skills and training such as quality tools and techniques, process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) are desired. 
  • The incumbent must demonstrate good communication and organizational skills, the ability to work effectively with people and the personal drive/sense of urgency necessary to provide needed support in the time frames demanded.
