Job Responsibilities:


The Software Quality Supervisor oversees the Quality Analyst (QA) team within a cloud-based software product development group that develops and deploys new global fleet and service management products.  The Software Quality Supervisor ensures the application of the principles and practices of software quality assurance throughout the software development life cycle.  This includes developing practices and procedures to identify problems or deficiencies in software products and preparing requirements, specifications, and test suites for software applications.


  • Staff Management - Interview, hire, and manage staff members under supervision. Participate in the budgeting process for funding of applications, tools, and services necessary to accomplish departmental goals.  Prioritize, assign, and monitor work assignments to staff members.  Oversee the design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation activities of assigned staff.  Monitor team performance against goals and project tasks; take proactive action when obstacles or risks are encountered.
  • Project Leadership - Provide positive leadership in the form of vision and direction to the staff.  Manage the QA group that is testing, qualifying, and enhancing software product applications throughout the application life cycle.  Develop and enhance testing methodologies and practices for the application life cycle management in line with best practice and practical experience of continuous improvement.  From the perspective of a Quality System Architect and with additional emphasis upon software testing, actively participate with department management to develop an overall program strategy.  As part of the management team, work closely and collaboratively with Design, Engineering, IT, Service, and Sales to understand their perspective and be accommodating to their business needs.
  • Employee Development - Create/revise job descriptions, conduct Talent Development discussions, rate performance, and establish/track goals.  Coach, motivate, mentor, and develop direct reports to successfully take on additional responsibilities.
  • Governance and Compliance - Ensure the organization's applications are effectively secured and that risks are identified and mitigated.  Ensure the developed applications function in compliance with the company’s Data Privacy guidelines.

Location: This position is based in our New Bremen, Ohio global headquarters with possible option to work occasionally from the Troy, Ohio office.


Remote Work: Crown offers hybrid remote work for this position. A reasonable commute is necessary since some onsite work is required.


Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, or related
  • 5 years of experience in quality assurance methodologies or software testing including API testing, mobile testing, performance testing, agile testing, and automated testing
  • Programming and analysis experience with Java/J2EE or Ruby
  • Good written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to nontechnical people
  • Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays
  • Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Cloud-based software testing experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with SQL strongly preferred
