Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support in machining area for engine and brake components.  Primary support is metal cutting; other processes include part washing, leak testing, and subassembly.
  • Continuous improvement of existing operations. (Kaizen, 5S, cutting tool life, cost, etc.)
  • Resolve production issues, quality problems.
  • Modify CNC programs and work with Engineering to update them.
  • Balancing of stations in flexible manufacturing system to improve throughput.
  • Implement work instructions for new processes and for continuous improvements.
  • Change plant layout drawings using Autocad when needed.
  • Provide training to operators and group leaders as needed
  • Troubleshoot existing automation cells, solving daily production problems, improving safety, quality, reliability and cost.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be mechanically inclined and have good computer skills, including experience with Word, Excel, CAD drawing. 
  • Hands on troubleshooting skills with experience in CNC machining, honing, grinding.
  • Understanding of precision gaging, CMM reports, process capability, statistical process control.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills and be able to lead the discussions, meetings, projects, etc., and communicate across all levels of the organization.
  • Must be able to read blueprints and understand basic math.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing principles including value stream mapping and kaizen is preferred.
  • Ability to work with Product Engineering on new product design for manufacturability is a plus.
  • Requires good organizational and interpersonal skills and the ability to support and mentor shop floor operations.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
